D-Pad Stuck in Down Position

My D-Pad constantly scrolls down like it's stuck. I know it's not the circle pad doing it because I recalibrated it in the tools section on my home screen. Any suggests on how to fix this or am I stuck replacing the D-Pad, which looks pretty complicated?

Take a look at THESE GUIDES. You may find its not so difficult to open up the DS and see whats going on

I already found the guide for replacing the D-Pad but it looks like there's an awful lot of things to remove (ribbon cables and the like) just to get down there. Was hoping someone else had this problem and knew what was causing so I don't waste my time.

when this happens, there is a build up under the silver button itself. You need to disasemble it down to the mother board, and then (extremly carefully) pry up the plastic covering.

This covering is attatched to, though seperate from, the White backing/mask.

If you carefully pry this up, you will see a black build up between the silver button, and the gold contacts on the Mainboard.

Remove this through a mixture of rubbing alchol, and force, and reassemble.
