So if/when I break the clips...

I have an iPad 3G that needs a charging port replaced. I ordered the charging port cable, and sat down to watch some repair videos.

Everything I have seen and read indicates that I WILL break MOST of the Digitizer clips when opening it. I don't have a replacement screen or extra clips.

Is there a way to open it, replace the charging port and seal it back if the clips are broken? Or do I just need to order clips (how do they reinstall?) or even a new digitizer?

I am missing the glue already.

these are a bit tough to do if you've never done one before.

What I do is I usually take these apart starting from the right side.

I break 2 clips - one at the top right corner and the other one and the bottom right corner. Sometimes you will break the clips at the bottom or top but not the side ones.

Once you have a little of a gap, unplug the 3g antenna and you can grab the screen assembly basically hit the metal piece in a place that won't damage it. You want to hit it in the long part of the case - so the side where you are sticking your hand in to hold the screen. You have to hit it while holding the screen assembly. Good luck
