google log in problem

I was advised by google that there had been 2 attempts to log into my google account from 2 far aff countries. To ensure this would not happen again I was advised to have a 2 step verification process added to my log in and to change my password. If I did not I may loose access to my email etc if it was successfully accessed by outsiders. Hesitiantly I followed their instructions. 2 weeks later I cannot access my google home page as I am suddenly asked to now sign in. I forgot my new password and the instructions theu provided for changing my password and to delete the 2 step verification I first have to know my password. Also the backup to getting into my account has failed-where they send a text message to my cell phone. Anything I have tried to follow on the internet (and it was hard to get around being blocked out of basically my computer) was complicated and useless. Any helpful tips on how to get rid of the 2 step verification and access my computer? Thank you so much. I am not sure if I can access you advice? help

You need to go through Google's account recovery process or contact their support directly; they are the only ones who can make changes to your account.
