will not restart after changing the battery

I have had problems with the phone dying with a reported high charge - e.g. 70%.

After installing a new battery, the phone will not start. When plugged in to an adapter it turns on and asks for an itunes connection. When i unplug it is instantly dies and when plugged into a computer it doesnt recognize the phone and the phone keeps looping: shows the apple logo for a few seconds and then goes black - continuously....

I have dis and reassembled it a few times and none of the connectors look damaged.

any ideas?

I believe I found out why. By taking out the new battery and replacing it with the old, the phone is back to normal. It will still die - but at least it starts.... The new battery must be malfunctional.
