Cannot connect after hard drive wipe?

BF bought this few years back and person wiped drive of course but think ALL got wiped vs just windows. Neibor tried putting a copy of Windows XP on it and it'll start up under that but seems to have zero drives/tools. So I figured I'll zip drive the original drivers from sony and just USB em. Well......it wouldnt even read zip, and dont see anywhere that its reading wifi or anything. I even unhooked router and plugged directly into back of desktop to avail......any ideas before I go buy original disks? No way to get now from seller/if even was........IDEAS???

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

taber1969, check the BIOS and make sure that you have USB support. It does sound more like an issue with windows

No bios anywhere that I can see/deleted?

The BIOS is part of the logic board circuitry, unlikely that it has been deleted. I think on the Sony, you hit either F2 or the Del key when your computer starts up, that should get you into the BIOS

Okay, f2 winner! Wish I cud show u screen. Says enabled but no USB mass storage device?

by

It will not show a USB mass storage device in the BIOS. That is an OS function. I would definitely think really hard about replacing the OS. To make sure the rest of your computer is ok, get a Linux Live CD ( I prefer Puppy Linux) set your boot order to optical drive and start from the Live CD, see what it tells you and if you can access the rest of your computer.
