very strange, i would have guessed that the sometimes improper vbr encoding is the problem.

had a mp3 radio in one of my cars - vbr encoded files had those skipping issues sometimes - cbr never (vbr: variable bitrate encoding cbr: constant bitrate encoding)

Wow! work just like magic!

I turn the files from VBR to CBR and work just fine, now the tracks don't skip to another.

Thanks a lot for the tip Markus!!!

It's a common problem on my 120Gb classic! When i got it, it would skip at random places in songs, to nex track. Very annoying.

After reading up on several forums, i found out it is a common problem and there was no firmware updates that would help. There was a work around, though: The light on the display is set to always on, and turned down to 0%.

It worked for me. I can't say if it will work for you, but you might aswell try it.

Best regards Rune B, Denmark
