Olympus Camera stylus 9000mju only working in playback mode

When I turn the camera on it will only function properly in the playback menu. If I turn the camera on in any other menu it shows 'olympus' on the screen but this screen freezes and nothing else happens before it turns itself off again after a while. I have tried to connect it my computer but it does not recognised it. It stopped working after the zoom lens got stuck when taking a picture.

trude, " It stopped working after the zoom lens got stuck when taking a picture." In any other mode on your camera, the lens needs to extend. It will try a few times, and if unsuccessful, it will shut off. It sounds to me like you need to either repair or replace the lens.
