Proximity Sensor Not Working

So a customer came in with a broken Power Button. I replaced the flex cable, power button works but now the proximity sensor DOES NOT work. I replaced the Power Flex Cable and that didn't help, I did the little trick I found on youtube(piece of tape and sharpie) and STILL does not work. I have never come across this issue before, usually an easy fix for proximity sensors but this particular phone is giving me problems.

Proximity sensor will not work if the "box" rubber piece is missing. I seen this in a YouTube video, here it is. Refer to 7:45 for the note.

Ok so I know this has been a huge problem for lots of people and I think I have come up with a confirmed solution. When Apple designed the iPhone the proximity sensor is controlled by a certain amount of UV light, some of the new phones have a small UV sticker pre installed on the sensor where as the older ones do not... the solution is a small purchase from ebay of this item

These UV stickers have solved my problem of the sensor not working after a couple years.

This is a confirmed fix in my book after I exhausted all other quick fixes and bought little foam squares and the permanent markers none of which worked. Feel free to contact me by email if you have any further questions about it
