My iPod doesn't turn on?

i bought a ipod nano about 2008 and now i open it! i pluged it to computer and also installed itunes, but none of my computer nor itunes doesn't recognize the ipod and only a logo of apple blinking in the screen, even i leave it for about 4-5 hours pluged ti computer but there is no sign of charging in the screen!

what should i do??

Let it charge overnight and don't use it at all. The battery may be stone dead. Also, check the hold switch. I've seen it before where people think hardware fault. if that fails, reset the iPod. You do this by pressing the center and menu buttons until it resets. If that doesn't work it's the battery or logicboard and you're in for a world of trouble here.

To do a quick test, plug it in for 5-10 minutes and see what happens. Does it turn on? If so, unplug it and see if it turns off. If it does it's a bad battery. If it stays off the whole time it's the logicboard.

If you try a new battery with the same defect it's the logicboard. At this point, either eWaste it or put it on eBay. Parts cost more then the iPods today. Parts are that expensive for these they make no sense unless it's the battery.
