iPhone 4 top microphone

I bought a iphone online and i cant get a refund or replacement. During calls the other person cannot hear anything if i switch to speaker the call if fine the other person can hear me. I then did some research and i was told to clean out the pin hole next to the audio jack. I must have stuck my needle too far into the pin hole or something because now during calls the other person just hears a really loud weird noise. Is there any repair my iphone is out of waranty and there is no apple genius labs in my country (Ireland). Thanks.
