chelsea, this error is most often caused by a faulty dock connector. The first thing you want to try is to clean it with a toothbrush and some isopropyl alcohol. Clean it well. use a few puffs of compressed air to blow out any pocket lint etc. If that does not resolve the issue, replace the dock connector. Of course, make sure that you also try a different cable. I'm sure it might also be time to replace the battery.Hope this helps, good luck.
