No power after replacing Volume/Power Ribbon

I had to replace the back plate to an ipod in order to get a new replacement screen to sit flush. Of course while removing the logic board I damaged the volume/power ribbon. I soldered a new one and after I put it all together but before applying adhesive it turned on fine and everything worked great. However after powering down and disconnecting the lcd to apply the adhesive, it wont power on anymore. Black screen and the computer wont recognize it either. Any thoughts?
