After resetting it several times and restoring, it twice it still has a white screen. When I reset it and immediately pressed the center button and the pause/play button, it showed the apple screen and then went straight back to the white screen. Any suggestions?

Good troubleshoot, if you see the apple logo at the start-up I think we can exclude a display failure... but it is not fortunate because I think we can conclude in a logic board failure which is probably the worst diagnostic. Please refer to this :
I don't think you can buy a brand new logic board (maybe some one else can help here?). If you are equipped with all necessary tools, maybe a solution would be to find out another device which have another failure (like broken display, or worn battery...) for ship on the web. Let us know if you try to do something.
