iMac 24" Intel won't start black screen first 3 LED on

HI,

My iMac 24" 2008, won't start any more.

Diagnostics:

- The first LED is on when the power cord is connect.

- The first 3 LEDs are on after turning it on.

- 4th LED doesn't turn on at all.

- Fan doesn't work.

- Screen is blank.

That's it, nothing happens computer doesn't start and screen stays black.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

can you confirm if you have the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 graphics card in your machine? as its problematic in your generation of iMac...

Also, have you reset the PRAM and SMC? do you not get an audible chime at all?

The 4th LED indicates a connection between the LCD and the logic board, so its possible the LCD is faulty. if you remove the logic board and do the same testing process, do you get a chime and more of a response? (you can test it with the display disconnected and an external display connected)

Hi Ori !

I had exactly the same Problem on my iMac.

Finally helpful was the replacement of the Power Supply!

I bought it at a Store in UK, www.applemacparts.co.uk

but im sure u find the Part also in US or elsewhere.

Mine was a used Power Supply, repaired by them and

i sent mine in exchange...

Works perfect until now.

Take care that the part u buy fits exactly for ur type of iMac,

there are many diffrent Powersupplies in Apple Computers : )

Greetz and good luck, G.
