Replaced Proximity Sensor and it and the on/off do not function

The part arrived and I spent all night until 5am to replace it. Now no functionality. Did I stick it on backwards or something? The bloody button clicks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Sorry that didn't work because that is quit a time consuming job, sadly you need to do it again, if your lucky you didn't get the new cable plugged back into the motherboard, check that first, if it's not that then re-step everything you did and try to find something wrong and correct it, if you cant find a problem you might have bought a bad cable and will need another one, good luck. iPhone 4 Power & Sensor Cable Replacement

Thank you. I hope it will be faster to do again now that I understand the steps. However I would rather avoid having to do it multiple times.

Since the button is clicking I take that as a sign the original bracket is not broken. Also I don't know that there was an actual plug on the thing to snap in. Is it more of just a contact?

The part I ordered was from china for $5 but appears to be new. Perhaps I should order a new bracket JIK.
