What does each individual cable do on the iPod Touch 4g?

So I am trying to fix my ipod screen and the touch screen doesn't work and I don't know which cable is plugged in incorrectly.

Hi Kevin,

Of the two cables coming off the display, the wide short cable is the display cable that controls the LCD. The thin long cable connects the digitizer to the LCD, and can be seen in step 13 of the front panel replacement guide. If the screen is not responding to touch, check the digitizer cable.

So the digitizer cable makes the touch screen respond to touches? Crap. That means I need to open it all the way up again. Thanks for the help!
