Need help repairing/replacing the graphics chip

Im looking for instructions/descriptions on where this nvidia chip is located on the motherboard. I want to try resoldering it first and if that doesnt fix the problem I will just install a new one. I have the tools to solder. Sony was no help to me, wanted me to use their repair service starting at $350.

Can anyone help me? A friend highly recommended this site.

when you say you have the tools, you do realize those are BGA IC's and need a reflow/reball :-) the other thing I would consider, is getting in touch with Sony. It is very likely that this is covered by a recall. Check on here. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/news-it...

My warranty was up 4 months ago even with the extended 2 years they added on bc the chips were defective. Sony would not take my case and wants $350 minimally and of course have the computer for months. I was hoping to save it and try doing the fixing myself as right now I am unemployed. I've read about "baking" motherboards but that seems silly and can damage other parts plus its temporary. I was hoping that soldering or something to connect it back to the board tight would help. I can get a new chip with balls if that's the case. Do you have any tips or recommendations?
