Second generation of iPhone. Model A1241 / 8 or 16 GB capacity / black or white plastic back. Repair is more straightforward than the first iPhone. requires screwdrivers, prying, and suction tools.

battery drains even when powered off

Hi there, I bought an ebay faulty phone, repaired the volume, mute and on/off buttons and replaced battery which read 0V on multimeter. On assembling, everything worked, wifi,calls etc but phone wouldnt turn off, just kept rebooting. I changed firmware several times until an old version 3.1.3 (7E18) baseband 05.15.04. let me power off, but then 12 hours later phone battery is again drained. I have charged battery to 100%, taken it out of phone and tested it days later and it still holds 4.2V, i have put logic board in another phone with new on/off button ribbon (same battery though) etc ...still no change.

Any help would be great, is it battery?,software? what can I try next?

Update...have charged battery, removed screen with digitizer and battery doesnt drain. Maybe this is a problem with the home button cable? anyone ...anyone...??? oh nobody cares anymore!
