missing clamp from cracked screen for lcd replacement

I replaced the lcd/digitizer on 32g black ipod touch 4th gen and the screen works before sealing it back up, but not the touch screen. The one issue I ran into while following irepairnational.com's yahoo video on how to do it is where you take the clamp off the cracked screen to use on the new one. There was no clamp where it should have been. I can't seem to find one to buy, nor do I know if this is perhaps what is causing the issue; I wondered if it was necessary to cause the digitizer to fold over onto itself correctly, making proper contact, etc. I have a picture from your guides of the clamp I am talking about if needed.
