Failing fiddling around with the cables (it's always a great idea to check cables before you go on to anything else) you may have an issue with the motherboard. There is a chip on the motherboard called the "HANA" or "ANA" chip that is responsible for video output. I'm sure you have heard of the Red Ring of Death? it's basically a crack in the solder that sits under the CPU or GPU which can sometimes be fixed by reflowing the chip (Reflowing is the process of heating up a chip to remelt the metal solder points underneath to fix and defects/cracks in the solder).

The HANA chip can sometimes also suffer from this defect. This causes no display issues like you are describing. As a result, usually a good reflow of the HANA chip will fix this issue, only problem is that you gotta open up your xbox 360 and do the reflow. Be careful though as it is possible to overheat these components. Alot of people use a heat gun, this is a very crude method though as you can't measure or regulate temperatures well. If you want to do it right, you will need access to or get a reflow station. Other then that, try a heat gun if you think you have nothing to lose. When reflowing, you do not want to move the board while it's hot. Reflow the board then give it a good half hour/45 mins before moving it.

Good luck in your endeavors in trying to rectify your problem.
