My macbook trackpad keeps on jumping around the screen when typing and selects other things. For example when using mozilla firefox, when inputting a website in the appropriate field it skips over to the google field. How would I go about fixing the problem.

Sorry to say it sounds like your track pad is worn or damaged. Here's the steps to replace the upper case IfixIt guide.
Once you get it off you can try to replace just the track pad if you can find one used some where. If the keyboard is not looking all that great just replace the whole thing.
