Replacement battery is not recognized

Hi,

I just replaced the aging battery on my mid-2009 MBP 17" with a brand new one purchased from this site.

The repair guide is well done and the replacement procedure is dead easy. However after reboot the new battery is not recognized by the system.

I did perform the SMC reset as suggested many times around here, but this does not work at all (the magsafe light goes orange for a few minutes and then goes back to green and the MBP says that no battery is installed).

I re-installed the old battery and it shows up properly. What did I miss ?

If your old battery is showing up and the new battery is not then the first thing that I would do is to have the new battery replaced. It is possible that the new battery is defective. Since the old battery is recognized that rules out the possibility that the logic board is bad. Hope this helps!
