Why is my laptop overheating?

My laptop Hp Elitebook 8530w, is overheating and shuting down. what can i do?

Probably because of all the dust that has accumulated over the time on the fan ... I had the same problem ... its bets to take it to the service shop where they will air blast the fan... the price is not significant

Hi, although I agree that the dust might have accumulated I would recommend to do this yourself if you have basic knowledge of opening screws. It is so easy that you can do this yourself. Write back as to what you think. Good luck.

John, just like the previous answers, I suggest you disassemble your laptop, and clean the fan and the air passages. Make sure that your heatsink is properly installed and you do want to change the thermal paste. Here is the service manual for your computer. It iwll show you how to work on it. Hope this helps, good luck.

Unscrew it. And remove dust and heat sink. After that make sure there is full contact of the graphic nda cpu to the heat sink
