Do I need a digitizer or an LCD screen

I just ordered an LCD screen for a HTC Radar. But, now after reading some troubleshooting posts I'm thinking I should have ordered a digitizer instead. Phone display has what appears to be cracks "under" the glass and vertical color lines and some black segments where cracked. Is this coming from the digitizer or the LCD?

Not exactly sure what it looks like, but from what I envision, it does sound like a bad LCD.
