non usable track pad gestures.

I have A MBP A1260 and just upgraded the HD and installed 10.8.1 OX. Prior to this work the track pad gestures were all turned on in system preferences and worked. They are still all checked but scroll direction does not function now. All other gestures for the new OX work. I tried un checking with a restart, then re checking but scroll direction is inoperable. Any suggestions?
