Lock/Wake/Power Button Not Working!

Hello all,

I've been using iFixIt for a few weeks now and have learned a lot already. Fantastic site and great to see a good community contributing!

Anyway, to the point... After dropping my iPod Nano 6th Gen and smashing the screen I followed a guide on iFixIt and successfully fixed it. After that I sort of "caught the bug" and ended up buying an iPod touch 4th Gen with a smashed screen on ebay and replaced the front assembly myself (Successfully. Well mostly.) The only problem i've got with the iPod is that the lock button isn't working. I've done some research and learned the volume buttons are on the same flex, but they are working.

So over to the experts, does anybody have any suggestions? I wonder if the button has been moved out of place when I replaced the screen?

You tore the part of the ribbon cable just above the screw to keep down the mother board, and since its only a little tear the power button was only effected by it. Its a big piece to replace and there is soldering, an easy fix for it is to go to settings>general>accesibility>assistive touch>turn on. it will put a home button and lock button on your screen, also the option to screenshot, shake, control the volume and all that other stuff! Its very convenient, just takes some getting used to! And you get to move it around on your screen if it gets in the way of anything, I had the exact same problem and the assistive touch helped a great deal. Hopefully I helped you,

The assistive touch is great apart from you can't then unlock the iPod, because the lock and unlock is on the screen, which is already locked.,,

I have an older iPod, 4th gem (2 cameras anyway!) same problem but can't find the assistive touch. Will this be because I can't get one on here?
