Why is my MacBook battery reading full at 98 percent?.

How do I best remedy the situation my battery is currently reading full at 98% and the charger light is remaining orange how to I best remedy the situation would an smc or pmu reset fix this?

Options

I'd start by cleaning the magsafe plug contacts on both ends with isopropyl alcohol and lightly clean with a fresh pink pencil eraser. A little dirt or oxide build up can effect the battery feedback system.

If that doesn't help, check the charger cable for any damage or bumps along the cable or visible damage to the charger? If so replace the charger.

Next, get a copy of Battery Health from the App store and see how your battery is doing.
