Why is my iPod not importing all music from my itunes?

When I have tried to import music from my itunes onto my Classic 80g iPod, it stops with only a few tracks to import. It then does not give you the opportunity to eject the iPod

I'd guess the hard drive is going bad. First try to restore it on iTunes though, but if that doesn't help I'd suggest replacing the hard drive.
