Step 12-14 Microphone repair. Torn zif socket?

While trying to replace the microphone on my MacBook Pro, on step 12, the ribbon cable doesn't fit well into the little socket and on step 14, The retaining flap and all fell off so that I couldn't pull out the cable.. What should I do?? Just because that little piece fell off, will I need to replace the entire logic board??

The computer no longer turns on. I need help ASAP for school!!

Additionally, if this is a problem where I need to replace a zillion things, any recommendations? I don't feel competent enough to do such repairs at my current experience level..

The number 12 connector isnt snapping back in.. Maybe it was torn off from the board?

Any tip on getting the number 12 ribbon cable back in its zip socket? It's really difficult and doesn't stay secure when I shut the flap close..

That's a possibility - without a clear picture how would we know?

This is probably the most roundabout way of getting the picture uploaded, but seeing as I don't have a working computer and don't know of a good image hosting site, I had to upload it onto facebook and get it to work from there. :Hopefully you can see this..

Biggest sigh of relief right now. I did some more searching on ifixit and found that someone had a similar problem and used tape. PHEW. I can live with not having the backlight on the keyboard, but what's kglue?? Is it hard to use? I don't want to mess up anything else.. Thanks, again!

Your keyboard will work without the backlight, but tape the bare ends of the cable so it doesn't short anything. You have to snap the #12 connector in or the top case (power button) isn't connected. At some later date, when you have time, you may be able to kluge the backlight problem.
