Sound only working on headphones

My brother-in-law's teacher broke an headphone jack inside his Ipad. After that, sound wouldn't play. It only would "play" sound over that headphones. When I couldn't remove it I replaced it.

Everything went smoothly, but now when I try and play music or hear sound, I get nothing. Adjusting the volume only allows me to adjust the "Headphone" volume.

I really need to get this replaced, he's autistic and he uses it to communicate. Any Ideas?

I did a factory reset on it already... I don't think it helped

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

When ipad is on open ipod plug in headphones play a song. Then let the song play 5 seconds. Push pause on the song. restart the ipad and then after it restarts remove the headphones that should reset it.

No dice. I tried playing the song for 5 seconds and then powering it off and on.

I tried the same process as above but also tried holding the power and home buttons for a restart instead of powering it off

I tried the above and tried pulling the plug out during the apple logo part.

Non of these worked. I'm still getting sound from the headphones. It's kinda scratchy. I wonder if I installed it wrong. Either way I don't really care if I have head phones or not I just need the speakers to work.

edit: thanks for the advice anyway Craig.
