i am fixing an xbox 360 s for someone and i was wondering if all the lasers are the same please help

No they are not. It all depends on what drive you have. You should find the I.D. stamp on the laser next to the ribbon connector.

Yep, they are different depending on the make and model of the drive. Read the drive model number and do a search on Ebay for the laser for that unit.
