Big white (like spilled milk) area on screen

Hi.

I have just changed the screen on my iphone 3 gs. But now I have a big white area with black islands on the screen. The area covers around 2/3 of the screen. The top 1/3 part of the screen is fine

I have have a thin blue line and a thin green line going from top to bottom.

What is wrong. Have I broken the LCD. Is it a connector?

I whiped the LCD of carefully when I was changing the screen. Was that a mistake. Or could the problem be because the LCD is sensitive to magnetic fields.

Poul.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Poul N, from your description (a posted image might help) it sounds like a bad LCD. You can try an reseat the connector, but if it is only a part of the screen that has that appearance, my money is on the LCD having failed. LCDs are not affected by magnetic fields.
