My Problem
Would not power on or off using power button
My Fix
Following directions, repair went great. Be prepared for it to take at least two hours, have a good lighting source and a safe place to store very small screws. Cable itself is somewhat difficult to work with.
My Advice
The hardest part is the mute switch. There is a small pad that needs to be positioned correctly on the external plastic switch body and the mute switch needs to fit into a small opening in the external plastic switch body. I could never get it right until I used a tiny bit of glue from the battery to hold the pad in place and to hold the switch in the correctly aligned position. After that, no problem.
My Problem
Front panel cracked and headphone jack was dead.
My Fix
Hard and took alot of patience
My Advice
The instructions are good but you really need to remember where everything goes. (NO INTERRUPTIONS)
My Problem
The headphonejack, the mutebutton and the on/off switch were out of order.
My Fix
The process was quite clear (except the mute-switch) but to get those tiny screws back into place was terrible, used one hour for one screw near the muteswitch.. I found out that I needed a little magnet to let the screw hang under the philips screwdriver. I took the bike, full speed, to a hobby/model shop in my neighbourhood in Oslo and they gave me a tiny magnet, 4mm x 2mm x 1mm, I got it just before closingtime on saturday and I could finish the repair within half an hour. The magnet is small enough not to disturb and strong enough to make the screwdriver magnetic.
I could not repair the nutebutton, This part is complicated and the instruction and pictures could be better and more clear
My Advice
Together with the screwdriver you could sell such a little magnet. The screws are very easily to remove when taking apart and as easily to get back into place when the magnet sticks to the screwdriver just 1 or 2 cm above the screw. I would never have managed without.. ..or loosing my temper completely.
My Problem
My wife's iPhone3G thrown by my son, and the switch physically broken.
My Fix
I'm Japanese and live in Japan. So I have imported the necessary parts first. After that, Using this site, and one by one to repair. It's a little difficult to repair for me, but finally I was success to fix.
My Advice
I think most important point is to using double-sided tape.
My Problem
old jack - no more connection
My Fix
very good. needed some handlenses to see what I was doing. On-off switch is a bit of a puzzle (orientation of the 'handle') and orientation of the mute switch was trial and error. Also not clear what protective film could be removed and what had to stay.
My Advice
Just your website. Fairly clear instructions
My Problem
My on/off button was not working and in order to replace this part, you must replace the ribbon cable to the on/off, headphone, mute and volume buttons.
My Fix
The install was much more difficult then I anticipated mostly do to a lack of complete instruction. When you read the guide it tells you how to remove the ribbon. However, it does not mention the need to peel and apply the small adhesive strips that a located on the ribbon cable.
My Advice
It is important to notice all of the self-adhesive location before reassembly, since they are required to get the components to stay in place.
