My Problem
The right side fan on my Mac laptop A1260 was screaming like a pack of 10yr old girls and driving me and the family crazy.
My Fix
Daunting at first seeing as I needed to remove the whole top half of the laptop and it had connections I was not familiar with, but the how to guides here on ifixit were excellent and made the whole experience a pleasure. In fact, while I had it opened, I went ahead and put in a larger HD with the money I saved from not having to pay repair labor.
My Advice
It is definitely easier than you think. The Spudger tool is a no brainer, get it and use your screwdriver for something else....like screws.
My Problem
The buzzing fan in my Macbook beginning to scare small children and animals
My Fix
The parts picker, and the photo driven installation guides make it trouble free...
My Advice
Don't cheapout on the spudger -- it should be in your toolkit - these connectors are tiny inside.
My Problem
It was so noisy and squeaky it rattled my brain.
My Fix
It went very smooth and fast thanks for very clear interactions.
My Advice
I would advice anybody to try to fix it by themselves, Instead of taking it to a repair shop or sending it back.

My Problem
My Fix
sans problème
My Advice
avoir les bons outils !
My Problem
Seriously noisy fans.
My Fix
Easier than expected.
My Advice
Go Slow, be organized, have a good space available with all tools, parts and snacks within reach.
My Problem
My Macbook Pro gets a lot of use and the fans were finally reaching a point of strain where they were almost ineffective.
My Fix
Repair went flawless; the teardown guide was very accurate in stepping me through with disassembly. I didn't run into any issues at all since I have replaced the main board before so I was familiar with the components already.
My Advice
Be very careful when prying up the keyboard and trackpad panel from the main body so you don't jerk it upward and pull the connector off the main board.
My Problem
The fan on my macbook pro would occasionally make an extremely loud sound. After taking it apart and oiling the fan a couple of times, I decided that the temp fix was way too temporary.
My Fix
I followed the instructions on this site about how to replace the fan (actually I followed these instructions the first time, when I oiled it)
My Advice
Just follow the instructions.
My Problem
I have this old MBP 15 from 2008 and cannot part with it as it has the "old-stlye" keyboard and love the feel of it. The fan started making rumbles but Apple did not fix under Applecare as it only was very noisy when off-horizontal. I was "holding it wrong". I lost some respect for the Genius kidz from that experience. Now that it's off Applecare, the fan went completely. Twas only a matter of time.
My Fix
I opened the thing 3 times. Had to figure our which side fan. The actual replacement was a piece of cake. There is some copper tape that I had to cut to separate the fan from the heatsink.
My Advice
Buy that spudger thing! I didn't have it when I first opened up and it would have been a big help.
My Problem
the fan was noisy and there was no battery life in the five year old Macbook Pro 15"
My Fix
okay, except for a issue with the connector to the HD. Had to reopen the machine a second time to firmly set the connection
My Advice
keep the economy running, just buy new
