Overheating and slow performance

History

I have an Hp laptop and it gets hot and overheats and starts to have slow performance don't know what to do to fix it please help

Do you elevate your laptop when it's on? It may be having a hard time cooling off. Are there any other symptoms?

yes i do elevate it and there are no other symptoms

I would open it up and clean out the fans. According to how dirty it is you may need to get to the heat sink clean out the vent ports and reapply thermal paste.
