possible mistake in reapplication of thermal paste
i reapplied some thermal paste to my macbook and i think i did it somewhat successfully (writing this on my MB right now). i did this because the temperatures for my cpu core's were consistently above 80 and got up to 90-100+ when doing very computationally intensive tasks.
now that i have it booted back up, when i launch 'Temperature Monitor' it says that cpu core 1and cpu core 2 are 'disconnected'. i am assuming something happened and i may have somehow disconnected the temperature diodes or soemthing. is this fixable? what should i look for when trying to see if it is a hardware thing?
note that i CAN see 'CPU A' in temperature monitor and it reads ~47 degrees. more than anything, i just don't want my computer to overheat due to a lack of knowledge that the cpu is hot and the fan not kicking on.
is it enough that "CPU A" is being read for the fans to turn on?
UPDATE: a simple restart let me start seeing the core temps. i will not delete this question, however, since others may possibly be searching for the same thing and come upon this post. for what it is worth, my computer idled at ~75C and got up to 85-90C when i was playing diablo 3. Now it idles at ~45C and doesn't get up above 60C when i play diablo 3!
Is this a good question?
