Can I use Ultrasonic Cleaning Machines to clean the bits?

I have an iFixit Manta Driver Kit, and its bits are starting to have some oxidizing / rust. I am planning to use an Ultrasonic Cleaning Machine to clean the screw bits. Is this a good idea and has anyone tried it?

@mylesuy the how is not as important as with what you clean it. If you are going to go ultrasonic, you have to make sure that you have the right cleaning agent like Kemet 12 etc.

Once cleaned and dried, apply a light coat of 3-In-One or even some Permatex spray lubricant (I am not a WD40 fan ;-) to keep any corrosion at bay.

If nothing else, you could try some at-home nickel plating :-)

What do you mean by "Kemet 12" and "3-In-One"? Can you give me the 'generic' name of those products (like penetrating oil) and a brand name (like WD-40)?

I am located in the Philippines by the way.

I am also planning to use industrial grade isopropyl alcohol (around 99% alcohol) or distilled water, is this a good alternative in case I can't find the products you mentioned?

@mylesuy isopropyl alcohol is an excellent cleaner it does not remove corrosion. Now, that is not to say it will not work on your bits. I don‘t think that they are widely corroded and the alcohol may be enough. It all depends on the degree of corrosion. If you have it, use it and then re-evaluate.

@mylesuy Kemet 12 is an ultrasonic cleaner that will remove corrosion better than others. 3-in1 is a multipurpose oil that cleans of the grime, penetrates rust and lubricates.

Sure you can use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean the tips off, depending on the steel the lack of even a good coating of oil will allow rust to take place again. A clear spray lacquer is what I would use Vs oil.
