Wifi does not work, Bluetooth does

Hi fixit community,

As stated in the title, despite the Bluetooth function working properly on my device, it is unable to connect to wireless networks

I attempted replacing with a cable from my previous MacBook Pro from the same generation, except it's from 2011 and the result is the same.

It really annoys me, thanks god I'm college student, and can connect to the internet via hotspot sharing with my iPhone, and got my iMac at home, else I'd be screwed up.

Thanks.

When you pull down the WiFI menu icon what do you see? Do you see a bunch of active WiFI AP’s? Or nothing.

I got absolutely nothing, it's even worse than a few days ago when I could at random times detect and connect to wifi. Now I got an exclamation mark with wifi icon, bluetooth still works.

@jhvz1g3tq242j6t - Well, you’ll need to try replacing the cable and/or AirPort board. The Bluetooth connection is via USB, whereas the WiFI is via a PCI connection.

MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Early 2011-Mid 2012) Airport/Bluetooth Cable

MacBook Pro Unibody (Early 2011-Mid 2012) AirPort/Bluetooth Board

I’m going to guess the cable is bad. Let us know what you discover.

@danj Thanks for your answer, it actually turned out as you stated, to be a problem due to a bad wifi cable.

Swapped it from the other Mac, everything is working fine so far, I've secured it with some tape as I suspect it to be involving a bad connection to the motherboard.

New are actually not so great,

Right now I'm facing the same issue, except this time, I don't have the exclamation mark. I'll probably leave it to my local repair for some further informations.

I'll keep you updated on the situations, and include a few screenshots of I do actually have on the menu bar wifi icon.

Edit : The AirDrop icon is flashing in white and Orange.
