replace PATA optical drive with an SSD drive

History

last night I had a crazy idea!

would it be possible to replace optical drive (PATA)

with an SSD drive?

the only problem is the PATA connection instead of SATA, I don't know if there is an adapter or PATA SSDs

edit: I found this:

Here's what you need to put in a SATA hard drive in your PATA optical bay slot: 9.5 mm PATA Optical Bay SATA Hard Drive Enclosure

Product Image

9.5 mm PATA Optical Bay SATA Hard Drive Enclosure

9.5 mm Internal ATA Optical Bay for SATA Hard Drives — 50+ available at 39.95 each.

from the notes on the link: This enclosure does not work with ATA drives or hard drives thicker than 9.5 mm. plus: Compatibility >> MacBooks

joleisa,

again on the notes: This enclosure does not work with ATA drives or drives taller than 9.5mm. which I don't understand why! PATA drives have different sizes?
