Can I up grade the logic board on a 27" 2015 iMac?

I recently purchases and installed a new power supply for my 2015 iMac (27”) with great success. However, the computer is still shutting down randomly. The model number for this iMac is EMC 2834 and I don’t see any available. Is it possible to put a newer model logic board in the 2015 iMac. Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

@cthrnolive - While iFixit is out of stock you might be able to locate one from another source.

Where are you located so we can try to aim you to someone local.

Thanks, Dan!

After install of the new power supply I hooked everything back up and it almost immediately randomly shut down again. I decided to try a few more diagnostic tests and now it’s been running fine for a few days. I know this random shut down is a common problem with these iMacs based on discussion boards. Any advice on whether I should wait to go ahead with new logic board or wait and see if the problem of random shutdowns/restarts continues?

I’m asking just because I’ve read some posts about how difficult it is to replace the logic board and problems that can occur after. I had ZERO problems with the power supply, but perhaps it was beginner’s luck.

@cthrnolive - Normally I would recommend first trying to fix the logic board as often its a failing $1.00 or less compoent. But Just like landing in Paris without a map getting around doit speaking/reading the language or even a simple compass will get you nowhere!

Replacing the board is about the best you will likely have. Not as painful as you describe, it is not the cheapest solution either. There are people out there that do board level repair. I'll admit finding a skilled person is tough.
