White Screen at When Booting Up

I recently replaced the battery and RAM in my laptop. Before I replaced the items, the laptop was booting up fine, it just wouldn’t hold and charge and the battery looked like it was going to explode out the bottom. Any way, after I replaced the battery and RAM now all I get is a white screen when I boot it up and my hard drive is making a waaaa….waaaa….waaaa….waaaaa sound. Almost like its winding up. I have tried connecting it to my tv as I have seen in previous question boards but to now avail. I have have tried booting it in safe mode and nothing. Don’t know if I am doing it right or not. Any help, ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

A white screen is usually a hard drive issue. Try booting g from an external USB source. Also check your hard drive connection both at the logic board connection and hard drive insert.

I think Mayer is right. Also wanted to add that noises coming from the hard drive normally indicate an issue reading/writing data, so it's likely the HDD is mechanically failing.

I tried booting it from a USB source. Turned on laptop and held down option button (thats what I read online). And nothing happened. The white screen is still there but the hard drive isn't making any sounds. I checked the connection to the logic board and everything is in. Any other ideas?

@thock2570 It would make sense for the hard drive to not make any sounds as the boot picker is in the EFI.

I have tried everything people have posted and it just wont work. I may have to bite the bullet and take it into a repair shop.
