Why do I have a flashing question mark on monitor?

History

I changed RAM from 256 to 512. When I turned on computer the screen only displays a flashing question mark on a file icon. Won't do anything else. Why?

Your machine can't find a system folder. Changing the RAM should not have done this. Change the RAM back and let us know what happens.

I changed the RAM back and still have same problem.

terry,

See if your machine will start from your system installation disk. Hold down the "C" key. If so go to Disk Utilities and see if it sees your drive and try to repair it.

Means your startup system can't find anywhere to load an OS from... did you mess with anything else while you were changing your RAM?

No I changed the RAM according to the instructions behind the keyboard and from a Youtube video. When I returned the old RAM...same problem. Still not resolved.
