diagnose: is it the logic board and/or the graphics card?

I’m trying to figure out the repair my macbookpro 15’ mid 2009 3,06GHz needs:

-blacks on the display turn green, pressing the case sometimes helps

- fans turn on maximum after just a few minutes in operation.

otherwise the computer works fine. Still on OS10.7.5

much appreciated if anyone can help me diagnose

Yes, you have a GPU failure! To fix this will require a new logic board or we can bypass the dedicated GPU and just use the less powerful intel graphics.

Or… Using this app gfxCardStatus to force the Intergraded graphics engine to be used all of the time.
