I am replacing LCD Display. How do I determine if I need the narrow or wide data connector?

You don't know till you look. I believe there are three different suppliers of LCDs for this machine. You need to open it and see which one you have. Here's how: Installing iBook G4 14" 1.42 GHz LCD

May I ask why you are replacing the LCD? What's the problem?

Buy both cables and try both

WAIT!

They may have come loose over these years,so check if they are secure
