Is there a way to disable ATI Radeon graphics?

I have a 2011 MBP with me that is having GPU issues. The issues are isolated to the ATI Radeon graphics and not the Intel graphics. Is there a way to disable the ATI graphics completely and use the Intel graphics instead?

What am I doing wrong?

Update (10/18/2018)

I am still confused. Once I am in target disk mode exactly which folder do I go to (I need names)? Then where do I go from there to access the NVRAM? Once I am in the NVRAM what do I delete/change?

You’ll need to boot up the system in Target Disk Mode so you can access the graphics driver in the system folder moving it out and then restarting the system should do it.

MacBook Pro: How to disable discrete GPU permanently from EFI? Jump down to #3 for a second way if you don’t have access to a second Mac.

I was talking about MacOS not Linux! I haven't tried altering the linux drivers and different versions of Linux do things slightly differently.

@danj How do I go about using target disk mode to delete the graphics driver?

How to use target disk mode to move files to another computer. Then access the other systems system folder.

@danj which directory would the GPU settings be/in?
