What to do if power button wont work?

My mac wont power on for no particular reason. it has a fully charged new battery. Power cord has a green light. Nothing has happened to it since I shut it down a few weeks ago. its just been on my desk undisturbed not in the sun hasnt gotten wet. can anyone help?

Try to remove battery, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, reinstall battery, retry starting your mac..wish you luck.
