Replacing The Docking Connector

Just bought an Apple Ipod Touch 3g 32 gigs for parts or repair for $25, seller says hardly used but the docking connector will need to be replaced and from what I have seen it's not as simple as replacing a cracked digitizer, it involves desoldering and soldering which I don't mind, I can't seem to find the connector part anywhere but U.K and China. I also bought another 3g 8 gig for parts that has a good connector any chance i can just use that one? Any idea what it will run to get it fixed by pros?

Thanks

Available here http://www.holidaycarts.com/ipod-touch-3... and here http://www.parts4ipods.com/iPod-Touch-3r... and multiple other places :-) can it be replaced. Yes, if you can solder and have a steady hand and a good magnifier. Just to a search on here and on google and you will find that it has been done successfully. If you are uncomfortable with doing it yourself, there are lots of places that will do it for a fee for you. Not sure where you are at so not much sense in sending you a link. Good luck to you

Dock/charge connector sells for $6 on ebay.

However, soldering is mission impossible for human hands.

I'd say near on impossible unless you have a VERY steady hand, a microscope and a decent iron.....and lots of time and patience :)

Good luck though!

Why not just do a search on Google for iPod repair? That way you can pick something close to your location. There are plenty of places out there.
