Optical drive on MBP will not recognize cds but will recognize dvds?
Hi. I have a optical drive in a MBP A1150 that will recognize and play dvds, both blank and "with content", but the drive will not recognize any form of cd, blank or "with content". The OS is 10.5.8 and the machine has been fully updated. Can the lack of cd recognition be a software problem or an internal mechanical problem to the drive? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would open the computer up and clean the laser in the drive
you can go to walmart and pick a cleaner up thats designed for DVD drives for 10.00
heres the guide if youd rather do it the hard way and open it with the 4 screws on the top
then, slide it front
