Progressively reluctant to start up; now no chime, just fan.
Another carcass from a client. This 2GHz Dual Processor G5 got progressively worse about starting up; sometimes it would come on if the reset button on the logic board was pressed, but now it just whooshes up the fans and won't even chime; the fans stay on, but not loudly. We tried replacing ALL the RAM, using just pairs of RAM in different slots (in case one slot or pair of slots was bad), replacing the PRAM battery, disconnecting the HDs. The client finally gave up and bought a Mac Pro.
Does it sound like the power supply, or the logic board? Any other suggestions before I sell it for parts?
Added later: I did change the PRAM battery, reset NVRAM, zap PRAM, all that stuff. And let it sit with the power unconnected for a number of days.

if you can manage to get it to boot again, try reseting the NVRAM, boot into open firmware, and type"reset-nvram" (to boot into open firmware, hold "command+option

I seem to be having the same problem as you had, Colleen. Did you have any success with the project or did you just scrap the unit for parts?
