How to fix hard drive?

History

a message comes up everytime i turn my laptop on saying to back-up files soon or i will lose everything in it! I tried to back it up and it wouldnt let me do it because of not enough memory. what do i do to solve this?

I won't know how full your hard drive is - never had a message like this! are you sure the drive is full?

not that some malware stuff is spitting out those messages!

but if you need to backup your data - use an external hard drive, copy your user data files to that drive (you don't have to copy something like the windows directory to that drive - it's not useful and some files can't be copied when windows is active)

you can also use the backup function that came with windows.

If this message is showed as the computer is starting up, it means that your hard drive's S.M.A.R.T. is failing which is an indicator that it may be failing. Back up all your data onto another HDD or DVDs. Order another HDD here but make sure its a 2.5" and not a 3.5" however.
